The AI Centre announces a call for projects for participation in a special regulatory environment for the development of AI systems

The Artificial Intelligence Centre (AIC) has published a call for projects to participate in a special regulatory environment (sandbox) for the development of artificial intelligence systems. The aim of the call is to select projects that need to develop and improve AI solutions in a controlled and supervised environment, while addressing compliance, safety and regulatory issues.

The special regulatory environment is one of the central tools of the MIC that promotes the development of safe, responsible and practicable AI solutions in Latvia. In the selection process, projects will be evaluated based on innovation, contribution to digital transformation goals, technical readiness, high-risk AI system qualification (as an advantage) and regulatory environment justification.

In addition to the call, on 17 March 2026, the MIC will organise an information day "Special regulatory environment or sandbox: from idea to application", where interested parties will be able to learn about the regulations, selection criteria and practical aspects of preparing an application.
